Emil Frey Racing
FOLLOWING ON FROM A FAMILY TRADITION
In 2011, the family business Emil Frey AG took the decision to set up its own division within the facilities at Safenwil (AG) to be engaged once again in Motorsport, starting from 2012.
Automobile and Motorcycle Motorsport has always been highly ranked in the Emil Frey AG. Motorsport is the motivator for top performances in the automobile industry. There is no other place where technical competence can be as efficiently demonstrated as within a sportive competition. It is an excellent stage for image-building for an international brand and an important platform to test developments, which will ultimately make road cars safer, more comfortable and of higher quality.
With Lorenz Frey-Hilti heading the division as Team Principal and being joined by engaged engineers and employees, Emil Frey Racing was started in its third generation. It is a re-launch of an unforgotten team, which managed to celebrate many highlights in the 30s, 70s and 80s. Company founder Emil Frey tested his motorcycles within the racing world, his son Walter Frey continued to do so with his MINI Cooper and Toyota.
With grandson Lorenz Frey-Hilti, the Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar and the Lexus RC F GT3 returned to the international race tracks. At the beginning, Emil Frey Racing was integrated within the existing buildings of the Emil Frey AG in the Swiss town of Safenwil. In February 2018, a new modern and innovative workshop was opened. The bottom floor of the spacious building caters as home for the race cars, the workshop and a driving simulator, whilst team members and engineers are working in the office spaces on the top floor.
The 2018 season saw the most successful year in the history of Emil Frey Racing. With the GT3 Jaguar running in its fair-well year, racing in the Blancpain GT Series, the team went on to claim the Silver Cup Endurance Cup Championship after storming to two Silver Cup race wins and three podiums in the seven races of the year. Meanwhile, Emil Frey Racing participated for the first time in the full Blancpain GT Series, racing the Lexus RC F GT3 in five Sprint and five Endurance Cup races. With the victory at the 1000 km of Paul Ricard plus securing a further podium, the Swiss Privateer Team went on to finish the year on an absolute high with third place overall in the Team´s Championship – the best result to date.
